About

Dobrý Festival (Good Festival) is the biggest music and arts festival in eastern Slovakia and will take place for the 13th time in Prešov in 2022 on 17.-18. June 2022. Prešov is the 3rd largest city in Slovakia with a long cultural history dating from the 14th Century.

Thanks to tradition, conditions, atmosphere and coincidence Prešov has a strong cultural spirit. It is a home to hundreds of musicians, actors and painters. Here you can find the most musicians per square meter in Slovakia. Most of successful Slovak bands come from Prešov and the city is known as “Slovak Seattle”.

Short history and headliners

Dobrý Festival means a lot to people in the region and thousands of them enjoy it every year at the beginning of the summer season. Its history is linked to years of tradition of the folk Festival Dobrej Hudby (Festival of good music), which was founded back in the 90´s by our friends from folk bands Mloci and Žobráci. Dobrý festival widened the concept of the folk festival and in just a few years, it has become one of the biggest Slovak multi-genre festivals.

The most popular bands not only from Prešov, but also from the rest of Slovakia have performed for crowds of thousands at Dobrý Festival from 2007. 6000 people of mixed age took part in Dobrý Festival in 2010. The headliner was Gary Moore and Ukrainian kozac rock band Haydamaky. One year later Skunk Anansie headlined Dobrý Festival with 8000 people in the crowd. In 2012 Dobrý Festival moved to the local open-air theatre to revive this cult place, which was built by the citizens of Prešov in 1952. More than 50 bands played for 10,000 people on three stages. Headliners were DnB DJ Goldie, cosmopolitan band N.O.H.A and the most famous Slovak band IMT Smile. Freak Power and Roni Size played in 2013 at the festival, Steven Seagal with his blues band and John B took part in our festival in 2014. Afterwards, the festival was moved back from the open-air theatre to the lake site and it was headlined by LP and Sepultura in 2017. Dobry festival was suspended for one year in 2018 due to technical works at the site. In 2019 one of the headliners was famous French dance duo Ofenbach, we welcomed dnb legends from Australia – Pendulum and from the metal world Amorphis.

Vision of Dobry Festival

Our vision is to create musically colourful festival, support local bands and singers and convince important artist to come to the Region and bring hope, joy and unforgettable experiences for all. We try to inspire people how to respect each other by combining different kinds of music and art in the line-up, organizing discussions and involving disabled people. Although we strongly support local bands, we invite at least one legendary band / singer from abroad every year, who has inspired us and can in our opinion also inspire people in the region to follow their dreams, to enjoy their life and love.
